Author's Bio:
Darren Cook is a writer of YA Fantasy, Historical Fiction, and Poetry. He has been a fantasy addict all his life, and started writing soon after high school. He has had some poetry published in journals but is aspiring to complete his first novel Hala's Rite, the first of five based in his world of Valin.
A native of Pennsylvania, he attended Pennsylvania Culinary, earning his Associates in Culinary Arts in 1993. Finding the field wearing he returned to school in 2001 and earned his BS in Secondary Education-English from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Of course fate has a way of turning the screw and in 2009 he was offered a job working for the Perseus House Charter School of Excellence heading up their budding Culinary Program, returning him to his love of food and meshing well with his dedication to education. He received his MFA in Writing Popular Fiction in January 2013 from Seton Hill University. His debut novel, Hala's Rite, was published in September of 2014 and is currently available on Amazon's Kindle Store and in print.
He currently lives in Northwestern Pennsylvania with his wonderful wife Kim, five exceptional children, their dogs "Blue" and “Pickles,” a cat, goldfish, and whatever is usually brought into the house.
